Costume List and Props List
Costume
There will be two main characters in the entire video, a man and a woman. There will also be a singer performing the song at parts throughout the video, and another couple that are featured twice in the video. It is important to get their clothing right, as it could confuse the audience watching the video, by portraying the wrong message across, or not keeping in continuity with the mood of the video at certain stages. For example, wearing a flowery shirt when the character is meant to be feeling upset.
The main male character
The male character will be wearing a pair of jeans, a shirt, some casual shoes, and a coat when he leaves the house. He will also be wearing another shirt, a hoodie and a different pair of jeans, and trainers when they are performing the scene of him and his girlfriend walking down the high street. We have chosen this costume for him to wear as it will maintain continuity throughout the video, and it is what you would expect people to wear in their own home, nothing to formal, and nothing to casual, such as pyjamas. The clothing also portrays the character as middle class person, due to the jeans and shirt he is wearing, which is common amongst society. It is important that he changes his costume for the high street scene as this is from a different time period, and would make no continual sense if he was wearing the exact same clothing as he does in the rest of the video, as people do not do this in their ordinary lives. The hoodie also suggests that he is very comfortable in his surroundings, and that he can wear casual clothing and no one will think less of him.
The main female Character
She will be wearing a pair of high heeled shoes, leggings and a black and white top. She will also be wearing different clothes when she is also performing the scene down the high street with her boyfriend. These consist of the same shoes and leggings, but a different top instead, in order to keep continuity. The clothes she is wearing represents her as a character that is both happy and sad, though the black and white top. This is an accurate representation of her in the video as she is really angry at her boyfriend to start with by kicking him out of the house, and then sending him a text to come back, as she is missing him too much. Meanwhile the clothes that she wears down the high street are more colourful and upbeat. This has been done purposely to show that she is happy at that moment in time.
The Singer
he will be wearing a pair of black chinos, smart brown shoes, a shirt and a cotton blazer. He will wear the same clothes throughout the entire video as he cannot change his clothes, if he is to keep in line with continuity of the video. The clothes that he is wearing presents him as a narrator, which has be done on purpose, in order to show his true role. The singer is narrating

the lives of couples through the lyrics of the song. The costume of the singer also shows him to be a mixed character as he is wearing mostly dark clothes, which makes it harder to tell what his emotions are. This also matches the song in this aspect.
The other female character
This character is only featured in the video for a couple of seconds, but still her costume is important. She will be wearing similar clothes to the main female character, as she will be in the high street when the male character is walking away from the house. Therefore she will be wearing dark clothes to represent the upset feelings of the male character. She will also be wearing these clothes to represent the stage that she has reached in her relationship with her boyfriend, in an attempt to show the circular structure of relationships. Her relationship when she is on screen is one of frustration, as they are just entering the stages of disagreement, where the main couple started at the beginning of the video.
The other male character
This character is featured more often than his girlfriend, as he is seen walking out his house at the end of the video, to emphasise the circular structure of relationships, with the main couple. At the end of the video he will be wearing similar clothing to the main male character as they live in a similar neighbourhood. Therefore he will be wearing, a shirt, smart chinos and designer coat and smart shoes. This will represent him as a character that is similar is class to the main male character, and thereby further enhancing the dominant theme of relationships in the video. During his time on video at the high street, he will be wearing a shirt, black chinos, different shoes and the same coat. These will all be dark in colour, to illiterate the sad, depressing mood of the video at that point in the video.
Props
Phone
This will be a vital prop in our video, as it will be used to show the male character an image of his girlfriend in a happier place in their relationship. The shot will the zoom in on this image and it will turn into the next scene. Therefore the phone has an important role to play in the video, as it links two scenes together, through a graphic match.
Ear phones
These are used near the beginning of the video to visually show the music starting when the main male character puts them in his ears when he leaves the house, As a result they have become a symbol of the music, as it symbolise when it begins, which is crucial to the timing of the edits of the other clips.
